Pilot
Oberfeldwebel Johann EDMANN (service number 60937/4)- 4./JG 26, killed in action.
Born on April 3, 1917 in Rammelsbach (Rhineland-Palatinate).
German military cemetery, Berneuil (17) : block 5, row 9, grave 337.
THE STORY
We don't really know the circumstances of Johann EDMANN's loss. We only know that he was shot down by a fighter when landing on the Fontenay-le-Conte airfield at 2:35 p.m. The pilot died and the aircraft was 100% destroyed. EDMANN was then sent by the JG 26 to the 2./Jagdgruppe West.
On June 22, 1943, after a fight with B-17s, EDMANN's aircraft crashed near Woensdrecht (Netherlands) and was 100% destroyed. The pilot, then assigned to 8./JG 26, had probably bailed out (not confirmed).
